1. Eligibility
To apply for membership in Freemasonry, an applicant must generally:
Be a man of lawful age as defined by the governing Grand Lodge (commonly 18 or 21 years).
Be of good character and reputation within the community.
Believe in a Supreme Being (interpretation varies by jurisdiction).
Apply of their own free will, without coercion or improper influence.
Be legally competent and capable of understanding the obligations of membership.
2. Application Process
Submission of a completed application form, truthfully and fully answered.
Payment of any non-refundable application or investigation fee, where applicable.
Consent to background inquiries and interviews conducted by lodge members.
Agreement to attend interviews or meetings as reasonably requested during the investigation period.
3. Investigation and Balloting
The applicant acknowledges that membership is subject to investigation and a confidential ballot.
Acceptance or rejection is at the sole discretion of the lodge, in accordance with Masonic law.
No explanation for rejection is required to be given.
4. Initiation and Progression
Upon acceptance, the applicant agrees to participate in the initiation ceremony and subsequent degree work.
Advancement through degrees is subject to attendance, proficiency, moral conduct, and lodge approval.
Rituals, signs, words, and ceremonies are to be respected and not disclosed.
5. Fees and Dues
The applicant agrees to pay initiation fees, annual dues, and any other assessments set by the lodge or Grand Lodge.
Failure to pay dues within prescribed time limits may result in suspension or termination of membership.
Fees and dues are generally non-refundable.
6. Conduct and Ethical Standards
Members are expected to:
Uphold the principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth.
Obey the constitutions, by-laws, rules, and regulations of the lodge and Grand Lodge.
Act with integrity, respect, and tolerance toward others.
Refrain from using Freemasonry for personal, political, religious, or commercial gain.
